M/V Sea Lion- Sunday, September 23rd 2018
What a beautiful day we had out on the water today! The sun was shining, we got to enjoy the west side of San Juan Island, and best of all- J Pod made a guest star appearance!
Today as we boarded M/V Sea Lion Captain Gabe, as well as Naturalists Sarah and myself were very excited about what the day would bring. After boarding we headed out, turning south down San Juan Channel. Our first stop was at Whale Rocks were we were treated to some awesome views of Stellar Sea Lions sunning themselves on the rocks. They looked quite content, we even got to see some frolicking in the shallow pools right off the rocks.
As we continued to head out into Haro Strait we picked up J Pod leaders south of Lopez Island. We followed them up to Cattle Point and then north past South Beach. As we watched these beautiful creatures swim and forage we were treated to some breaches and tail lobs throughout the trip!
The scenery was gorgeous on the West Side! We ended up near American Camp which gave our guests the opportunity for some amazing pictures of the sunny west side and some amazing Southern Resident Killer Whales!
Until Next Time,
Naturalist Alexandria
