What an absolutely beautiful day it was out on the water today! We began out trip this afternoon aboard M/V Sea Lion collecting as a group onbaord and talking about some of the Wildlife we were hoping to see in the area. Captain Pete and myself were very excited because we had a report of a Humpback up north! As we got on the water and headed up San Juan Channel we saw a few harbor seals swimming around- just like a grey volley with two eyes swimming by.
Once we made our way up south more- past President's Channel and through Boundary Pass- we caught glimpses of some boats in the distance and knew we were getting closer! Once we got on seen we were treated to some awesome views of this Humpback! We were lucky enough to spend more than fourty minutes with this indivual. We got some amazing views during their surface breaths- at one point she even surfaced right beside up only a few hundred feet away! It was incredible- what great looks we got!
After spending a fantastic chunk of time with this awesome Humpback it was time to start heading back. We made sure to stop at East Point and check out some incedible Steller Sea Lions and Harbor Seals that were hauled out on the rocks. As we made our way back to Friday Harbor we enjoyed the gorgeous sunny afternoon.
