Things are certainly starting to change around our little island! Summer still seems a little bit hesitant to leave, occasionally poking it's head around the corner and reminding us of the warmer days of July and August. But September has arrived in full swing, bringing with it beautiful orange and red leaves, roadsides decorated with those that have already parted from their former branch homes, and plenty of foggy, wet mornings.
These are some of my favorite times of the year up here. The island is quieter, certainly. Businesses are starting to shorten their hours. Sun sets earlier. Evenings get cozier. Cravings for warm drinks in ceramic mugs become stronger. Movie marathon nights become more common. It's the perfect time to indulge in the comforts and sensory delights of fall, but the weather remains warm enough and the days long enough to continue romping around outside in exploration.
September on San Juan Island really has the best of everything. Come visit us this month and see what it's all about! Our whale watches continue to run, kayak tours still depart, and Riptide cafe's baristas are busy prepping your handcrafted drinks right here next to the Friday Harbor Spring Street dock. Peace and relaxation awaits you!
