Heading North out of Friday Harbor the weather was looking slightly bleak, but once we got going on the water in turned into a beautiful day with smooth seas. When Captain Mike and myself came across a group of 7 transient orcas traveling through Active Pass, we were pleasantly surprised when a young calf popped up next to its mother. We got an excellent look at the pod when they decided to change directions and head within excellent photo range! After spending a good portion of time with this group of transients we decided to keep our good luck going and head south to see if we could spot the humpback reported early. As luck would have it, this humpback also supplied us with amazing views of its fluke while it went down on deeper dives. Today was a truly awesome day on the water, with excellent landscapes, as well as perfect opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitats! Looking forward to another wonderful day on the water tomorrow.
