T137s Near Lummi Island!

Jordan | M/V Osprey | 07/09/2021 5:30pm

This day was absolutely wonderful.

Captain Brian, Naturalist Alexandria and I booked it off the dock in our nice big vessel and headed out towards adventure. We cruised between Islands and northeast until we reached Peavine Pass. Slowly, we enjoyed the narrow channel and emerged into the Rosario Strait.

Then, just around the corner, we saw orcas! So cool! This beautiful family of orcas cruised along the shoreline and seemed to catch a seal! Excitedly, they hauled it out away from land and took turns sharing their meal amongst the family.

We identified them as the T137s. The matriarch named Loon was followed by her massive son, Jack, Tempest, and a youngster named Wright.

We admired them as they swam along the shoreline of Lummi Island. The setting sun illuminated their fins. Jack swam a bit closer to the boat as his family cruised in the shadows close the coast.

Seeing some seals in the water, they seemed to know that they were in the danger zone!

Eventually, we turned around and headed home.

Enjoying the islands and watching as the sun made everything picturesque, we watched as some porpoises passed by.

What a lovely day.
