Today started as a gorgeous sunny day without a cloud in the sky, and it just got better. Captain Sarah, Naturalist Laura and I headed out of Friday Harbor and headed north through the San Juan Channel up towards reports of wildlife! But, on the way, we kept finding other random wildlife!

This afternoon we had a full boat of wonderful passengers. Captain Gabe, Co-Naturalist Laura, and I talked about how much we loved everyone we chatted with and had such a variety of backgrounds on board. Today, Pete and I took the Kestrel out of Friday Harbor up towards the north, just scanning around all the different islands to find some wildlife.

As we boated up through the San Juan Channel, we stopped by White Rocks to view some harbor seals! These chunky, floppy animals basked in the sunlight and enjoyed napping as the tides slowly approached their rocks.

The sun shone brightly overhead as Captain Gabe and I took the Kestrel out of Friday Harbor. Upon speaking with other captains, we headed north towards Canadian waters.

We sped up north through the San Juan Channel and up around Speiden Island. Here we found a huge bald eagle! He perched in the tree balanced precariously among the branches. He surveyed the water for any fish to feed on or any birds to steal food from.
